Recently speaking at a hoteliers meeting in Paris, Dr. Abderrahmane Belgat detailed his vision and ambitions for AMFORHT in 2024.
First, he reminded the audience that AMFORHT was created 55 years years ago (in 1969) by UN Tourism (formerly UNWTO), and as such the NGO main objectives must align with those of UN Tourism for everything related to hospitality and tourism education and training.

Ivory Coast (Côte d'Ivoire) asked AMFORHT to assist them in developing an ambitious tourism strategy. With its "Sublime Côte d'Ivoire" ('awe-inspiring Ivory Coast') road map, the West African country wants tourism to become its third economic development pole. The aim of this plan is to develop territories beyond the capital city of Abidjan, expand population's employability at all levels, and ensure a healthy Nation's GDP growth.

This is why Mr. Siandou Fofana, Ivory Coast Minister of Tourism, asked AMFORHT (a UNWTO affiliate) to assist them in making the country one of the top 5 African tourism destinations.

Djibril Fofama, AMFORHT Secretary General in charge of the African continent, went to Dakar, Senegal, to visit the École Nationale de Formation en Hôtellerie et Tourisme (Hospitality & Tourism National School). Being a well known gourmet, the part of the visit that Djibril preferred was when he met the food & beverage division students: They demonstrated they know-how and talent, preparing beautiful food able to please even the more discerning palates.
